«All great music is contemporary. If it’s still alive and kicking, then it’s contemporary.
If it fades away, it was a period piece. It had its moment, and that was it.»

The balafon and dance performance «Senedon» is part of a reappraisal of the concept of minimal art in the context of African cultures. The music is based on improvisations on themes and techniques of the American composer Steve Reich. Senedon is an expression of the Bambara-Malinke language family and means: dance of the worker.
The costume design of the balafon players picks up West African patterns and is translated in a reduced form as a print on classic Western menswear. Together with the costume design of the dancer Michael, which combines aspects of the disco music scene and minimalist elements, a diverse outfit is created, which aesthetically accompanies the performance.
