FASHION COLLECTION
«We humans are, at bottom, carriers of the time, because we take it with us, we use it, sometimes we waste it and sometimes something remains, though everything is doomed to oblivion.»
José Saramago
The collection «Memorabilia» is based on the artistic examination of cultural preservation, tradition and the authenticity of subjective memories. Based on my own multicultural background, this project relates to the self-concept of identity and the conservation of traditional roots. I combined historic Portuguese costumes with classical menswear elements to underline the interaction of old and new silhouettes.
The patterns as well as the materials are based on living room esthetics from the 80s and associate to the melancholic characteristics of the collection. The connection between tradition, diverse cultures and time within the search for identity is discussed and presented as an example through the collection.
