The «Kunstraum Markusgemeinde» in Berlin/Steglitz is a multimedia and walk-in installation, conceived and built in 2020 at the time of the Corona Pandemic. Based on the Christmas story according to Luke 2, 1-20, the Evangelische Markuskirchengemeinde was transformed into an art space with theatrical immersive narration. The scenography integrates diverse elements of spatial design such as light, projection, video and sound into the interior as well as exterior space of the church. The experience of the art space conveys moments of tranquility, reflection and communal atmosphere, which amidst the constant changes of public life in 2020, are essential starting points of the dramaturgy. The project was conceived, designed and realized jointly by a group of eight designers.
