Marie Akoury is a multidisciplinary artist with French-Egyptian roots living in Berlin, Germany. Based on her academic background in fashion design, set design and scenography, her works vary from COSTUME DESIGN AND STAGE DESIGN to MULTI-SENSORY INSTALLATIONS TO PERFORMACE ART.
She graduated in Fashion Design with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2017 from the University of the Arts in Berlin. After her bachelor’s degree, she worked for the Art Directors Club for Germany in exhibition design and competition organization. In 2021, she graduated with a Master of Arts degree in Stage Design_Scenography at the Technical University of Berlin. She is a scholarship holder of the art funding of the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes.
In her work she focuses on the union of diverse media, which is the interface between textile, auditory and spatial design. The connection between body, space and sound is the essential starting point of her artistic work. The relation between visual-tactile and auditory experiences is at the same time the foundation for her work in artistic research. Thus, the combination of smart textiles, sound and performance art in spatial design is the central object of investigation for her intended doctorate.
